Getting laid off shortly after landing a job in the oil and gas services sector, Sham wasn’t sure the energy industry would provide the stability and career he wanted. Sham decided to give QED a chance where he learned how to quantify oil and gas reserves and their value. The skills QED’ers learn are necessary when oil prices are low or high. Sham now enjoys a career at an operator that offers $100,000 bonuses and is engaged to a lovely lady, planning a multi-day ceremony for this spring.

We met Kyle when he was waiting tables at an upscale restaurant in Houston. With a degree in theatre management, he wondered how QED would leverage his background. Kyle quickly learned that his customer services skills from the hospitality industry are among the most sought after in the energy industry. Kyle joined the QED Team in 2014 and is still proudly a consulting team member, providing services on-site to QED’s investment banking clients in downtown Houston. His cat, Tiberius, is our favorite weather man and keeps QED abreast of all impactful weather systems.

Janice is a QED All-Star. She wasn’t sure if QED would be great or a total waste of time, but she gave us a chance. Working two part-time jobs while training, Janice worked diligently to support herself and learn the QED curriculum of skills. Graduating from our training with flying colors, Janice’s first assignment as a QED consultant was at a minerals company that gave her exposure to some of the industry’s leading integration technology. After that short-term assignment, she found her interview at a leading energy banks was a breeze, being able to speak directly to the tasks at hand and her experiences. She landed the role and works on a team with many other QED’ers bringing money to the market for oil and gas drillers. She and her husband also opened a top-notch sushi restaurant in Northwest Houston, and she has a beautiful baby boy! Referred by Francois, Janice has referred to QED Paola, Moira, Mark, Anthony, and Sarah.

All-Star Janice referred her buddy Paola to QED. During training, Paolo mastered QED’s technical skill curriculum for working in the upstream oil and gas industry. Never backing down from a challenge, we knew Paolo would want a career full of learning and leveraging new technologies. Paolo was placed in a temp-to-perm assignment at one of the largest oil companies headquartered in Houston. She quickly impressed them, turning the temporary role into a great career. Paolo keeps in touch to advise QED on new technologies she has created and developed to make standard workflows more efficient and enjoyable. Paolo recently celebrated her nuptials to husband Ethan at a lovely ceremony in Cancun and invited the QED Team as well! Thank you, Paola!

Leisha graduated with a degree in fashion merchandising and was managing the women’s department at our favorite big-box general merchandise retailer. Her education at Baylor set her up with a great foundation of critical thinking and problem-solving skills that we knew would be leverageable in upstream oil and gas. She learned from the pro’s at QED how to calculate the values and volumes of oil and gas, and she landed an entry-level role at a large Canadian bank that lends money to American oil companies in 2012. She’s still at that company and she now runs all major processes for the group! Her favorite past-times are playing with her puppy and spending time with her precious niece.

Anthony was a late entry to his QED training class in 2018. With a degree in math, we had no doubt in Anthony’s ability to master QED’s technical content. We were impressed with his trust in our process. Anthony trusted in our guidance and believed we would add value to his life. This is a big leap of faith for anyone that comes to QED, and we are so glad Anthony took the chance. A large energy lending bank came in to our office one day to interview another QED technician, but they saw Anthony in the training room and asked about his background. They pulled him in on the spot and gave him an interview and the job. We couldn’t believe that his offer included benefits not only for himself and his potential family, but also for his pets. He is the powerhouse and innovator on a team of multiple QED technicians, and we think he could run the group someday. Anthony is now pursuing a degree in engineering in his free time, and he is never too far away from a cast-iron skillet as he loves to cook!

John worked the drive through at our favorite coffee shop. Each day on our way to the office, we would stop and get our daily dose of caffeine, and each day John would meet us with a smile, a word of encouragement, and set us up for a great morning. We knew in our hearts that if only he was good at basic math, this guy could slay it in the oil and gas industry. After years of encouraging him to apply, we found John sitting in our training room taking our basic math test covering algebra and arithmetic. John’s level of detail on that test earned him a 100%, and from that point onwards we knew he was a rock star. Without a degree, John was worried opportunities might not be as plentiful as those of his QED training counterparts. Not to fear, John landed a full-time role at an energy lending bank supporting a fabulous team of upstream professionals. He now works side-by-side with another QED all-star, remembering the days past of serving us coffee, now managing billions of dollars in the energy industry. One of our favorite memories is of his Snap where he pulled the Uber and Lyft stickers off his car with a sigh of relief.

We met Stephanie at an on-campus recruiting fair at her alma mater. Her degree is in criminal justice and her work experience was in law enforcement. She wanted a career in business, and we were excited to welcome her to the QED team. Stephanie quickly learned the ins and outs of estimating oil and gas reserves. She was hired for a temp-to-perm assignment at a large oil company where she proved her work ethic, her technical skills, and her professionalism. They were delighted to offer her a full-time position at the conclusion of the temporary term, and she still works there today. Stephanie is entrusted by her company with responsibilities of managing assets large and small to add value to their organization. She is an amazing role model for her lovely daughter; hard work conquers all.

Karis was a teacher in a local school district. She loved her time in education, but she wished to move on to corporate America and didn’t know how to get a foot in the door. She had heard of the competitive salaries and career paths available through QED. QED was delighted to step in and provide the direction Karis needed to steer herself into an amazing career. Karis learned the curriculum at QED and mastered the art of being a reservoir engineering technician. She landed a job at a leading European investment bank, and made a strategic career move to another investment bank after five years. She now works with and mentors other QED technicians. She loves dogs and volunteers with many local rescues.
